How is CBCT different from an x-ray that a dentist takes?
CBCT is a 3 dimensional imaging modality that enables the doctor to view the exact dimensions of structures in the oral and maxillofacial region. The CBCT images usually include panoramic views, various sections (axial, sagittal, coronal), 3D view and a number of other specialized views tailored to your doctor’s specific needs. A radiograph is 2 dimensional and is not the exact representation of the structures.
How long will my appointment take?
The CBCT scan takes between 12 – 28 seconds (depending on the required scan size). The total appointment which will include the registration, positioning, scanning, reconstruction, and scan verification will take about 15 minutes.
How and when will my doctor get the results?
The reports will be emailed to your doctor in less than 24 hours. Also, the hard copy of the report and the cd will be couriered to you to add to your convenience.
Are these imaging procedures safe?
Dental imaging involves very low doses of radiation. In addition to this, we do several things to further reduce the dose. These include the use of latest imaging technology available as well as ensuring proper shielding techniques and maintenance of equipment.
